Safe Driving
Local Speed Limits
According to the Traffic Code, the speed limit in Greece is 50 kilometers in the city and in residential areas, 80 kilometers on express roads and 100-120 on motorways. Always observe the speeds indicated on the signs along the road you are driving. The speed limit is controlled in many areas via satellite and camcorder, so be very careful.
Seatbelts
We recommend and advise all occupants of the rental car to wear seat belts. Children should be seated in child seats, which can be requested by AACars staff and secured with seat belts. Despite technological advances in car safety, and in particular the use of airbags, the use of seat belts remains essential. Traffic carries out strict controls on the use of safety belts and imposes corresponding fines as well as removal of the driving license.
Do not drive while drinking
Be careful not to violate the Road Traffic Code by driving under the influence of alcohol or any other substance. The permissible blood alcohol level is 0.05 percent. If you exceed it you will pay a fine. If your blood alcohol content is more than 0.08 percent, this is considered a criminal offense and you will be detained. Accidental drunkenness is very common, especially late at night in the form of unscheduled checks on the main streets.
Only park in permitted parking spaces
Only park in designated parking spaces where parking is permitted. If you park in restricted areas, you will receive an unlawful parking call from the Traffic Police or the Municipal Police, and your vehicle license plates will likely be removed or removed by a special vehicle. Park your rental car in a safe place, where there is plenty of space for other cars to pass but also in controlled parking spaces, with a corresponding ticket. There are valet parking spots in various parts of each city.
Choose the right car rental for your routes
When selecting the car rental category from AACars, take a look at the photos and their description, taking into account your needs, comfort and safety. Make sure you rent one that has plenty of space for your luggage and for you. Choose from the huge selection of car rentals offered by AACars for a more comfortable and secure journey.
Be aware of traffic signals and how to read maps
As a result of the Olympics, Greece today has an important road network of European standards, which is constantly expanding. Most signs are in Greek and English so they can give the right instructions. Major corrections have also been made to the quality of roads, lighting, electronic signage as well as tunnel construction. AACars provides road maps for your convenience as well as electronic navigation systems (GPS).
Mobile Phone Use
The use of a mobile phone while driving is prohibited, expressly or indirectly, in all EU countries, as it has been shown to five times increase the risk of fatal accidents. In Greece, it is acceptable to use hands-free or Bluetooth (Bluetooth) equipment that allows communication without the use of hands. In-use mobile phones may only be used when placed in a dedicated position for open listening or when used with wireless headset. The use of hands-free equipment is prohibited.

Tips for green driving
Avoid any unnecessary deceleration, braking or shifting.
Make quick shifts to high gear and slow down to small gear (in other words drive as high as fourth or fifth).
Avoid pressing the throttle too much and prefer to push it with your foot as low as possible: the deeper the pedal sinks, the more fuel consumed, regardless of engine speed.
